A two-car head-on crash in eastern Contra Costa County last month killed a Stockton woman and a two-car freeway crash in the western part of the county killed an elderly San Francisco resident, authorities said.
The two wrecks happened three days apart, and authorities held off identifying the two until relatives were notified.
Killed in the head-on crash on state Highway 4 in Brentwood was 47-year-old Lakisha Ruffin. The May 24 wreck near the Balfour Road exit involved an electrical SUV that ended up in a ditch and burned, authorities said. Gabriel Biadgi, 34, of Antioch, was the other victim in that crash.
Authorities have not said which of the two were in the SUV.
Authorities identified Ragna Roksvag-Zanger, 81, of San Francisco, as the one who died in the May 24 crash in El Cerrito. That rollover wreck happened on westbound Interstate 80 near Potrero Avenue, when a black Fiat and white Mercedes-Benz hit each other, the California Highway Patrol said.
Roksvag-Zager was a front-seat passenger in the Fiat. The drivers of the two cars both were hospitalized and survived.
The CHP continues to look for witnesses to that wreck as they try to piece together how the two cars collided. They asked anyone who may have any to contact them at 510-457-2875.
