Tipp City Schools is grieving the loss of one of its own following a deadly multi-vehicle accident over the weekend on Interstate 75.
Tippecanoe Middle School staff member Jennifer Korleski was killed Sunday morning in an accident on I-75 southbound, north of State Route 571, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP).
In an emotional social media post, the school district remembered Korleski as a kind and compassionate individual who was deeply committed to serving students.
“Jennifer was a teacher who was renowned for her kindness, encouragement, and care for students,” the district stated. “She always stood up for our students and wanted them to be their best.”
According to OSHP’s preliminary investigation, the crash occurred when a 2021 Ford slowed with traffic due to a previous incident. Korleski, driving a 2009 Saturn, collided with the Ford, causing it to overturn and veer off the road. Korleski’s vehicle came to a stop in the left lane, where it was then struck by a 2021 Jeep.
Korleski was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Ford and Jeep were transported to local hospitals with injuries.
Tipp City Schools extended their condolences to Korleski’s family, colleagues, and students, emphasizing the lasting impact she had on the school community.
“We are keeping her loved ones, students, and the Tippecanoe Middle School team in our thoughts during this difficult time,” the district said.
