A semi driver was injured when he crashed into a group of cows on the road in Fillmore County Saturday, killing ten of them.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a semi was traveling west on Highway 16 in Fountain Township just before 4:30 a.m. when it collided with the cows near milepost 230.

The semi’s driver, identified as a 52-year-old Forest Lake man, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There were 11 cows struck in total, with ten killed and one injured.

The crash is under investigation.
