Rainfall across South Florida continues through...

Waves of moderate to heavy rainfall will continue through Wednesday before a drier and brighter pattern shakes out by the weekend.

Additional heavy rain Tuesday may accelerate the flood potential in Broward and Miami-Dade, where 2-5 inches fell Monday.

Should the rain fall in palatable doses, flooding may be avoided as this likely drought-busting event jumpstarts the South Florida rainy season.

Weather alerts

Several flood advisories were issued for parts of Miami-Dade and Broward counties on Monday. Forecasters say thunderstorms will bring heavy rain, causing minor flooding in poor drainage areas and roadways.

A flash flood warning has since expired.
